Guantanamo pants
We like a good statement piece. And a good statement. Thank you, Vivienne Westwood! At the 66-year-old’s first runway show in nine years, she offered up both by opening with this provocative pair of orange undies reading “Fair trial my arse.” With the world watching anyway, why not use your show to make a statement against the military tribunal trial process for prisoners at Guantanamo Bay? The show’s notes called for the freeing of Gitmo prisoners.
The knickers are a co-op with Vivienne’s son and co-founder of Agent Provocateur lingerie, Joseph Corre. They’re available in AP stores for about $70, a price on par with the store’s non-political briefs. And did I mention they come with a pair of handcuffs?
The rest of the Vivienne Westwood Red Label show paid homage to the London Woman of the ’70s — the “kids these days” of yesteryear who took the UK punk scene global. Some inspiration for our vintage shopping…
