Yes, the rumors are true… I will be appearing in Kansas City’s West Eighteenth Street Fashion Show on June 14. I must admit that I’m being quite sheepish to make any sort of formal “announcement” of this, but I am flattered and honored to have been invited to model for Bon Bon Atelier. The eighth-annual show, themed “Summer at Sea,” will be held outdoors in the heart of KC’s Crossroads Arts District and feature 22 competitively-chosen regional designers.

I mean it when I say “competitively-chosen,” as applications for the event came from designers around the country — but Bon Bon easily tops the list. Even in the show’s press release, Bon Bon co-founder and FLP friend Betsy Blodgett’s chops are the first to be listed as bragging rights. “This year’s selection panel chose such well-traveled and experienced designers as Betsy Blodgett, who attended London College of Fashion…”

Online and in store, Bon Bon sells not only Betsy’s hand-sewn clothing, but also her sister and co-founder Emily Panos-Blodgett’s handmade jewelry and way too many completely irresistible other goodies, from MOR Cosmetics to quirky shoes to NYLON books to the insanely popular Ibride laser-cut wood trays. In store, Betsy’s one-off vintage picks and ever-changing handmade decor spice up the search.

I’ve done my searching, and here are the Bon Bon picks gracing my closet. Betsy sewed this gorgeous sun dress ($88, and it covers bra straps perfectly) out of durable fabric from Ikea, and these a-ma-zing rings from soop ($12 each) are made in London and pretty much to die for — they stack together to create scenes on your finger!

Betsy has tailored a glamorous pair of “beach pajamas” for me to wear in the show. I know that makes you curious (I was too), so I promise: Pictures will follow!
