Coclico Shoes

Found these gorgeous shoes at Habitat earlier this week. I was there “browsing,” not exactly “shopping” — which was my first mistake. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM. On sale from $325 to $229… we’ll see.
They’re by Coclico, a NYC-based brand founded by a third-generation French shoemaker. This season the brand has started using more vegetable-tanned leathers. “This is the beginning of an exploration into the increasingly important notion that we are all linked,” says the website. “Each of our actions have effects beyond what we’ve previously understood.” I love it.
The brand is named after the French word for poppy, “coquelicot” — so does that make this a “Frenglish” brand name?

I love Coclico, too! I bought a pair of black boots–the Mick–from Ped Shoes (http://www.pedshoes.com) last year, and they are my absolute favorites. They are ridiculously comfortable and veritable compliment magnets. I’ve currently been thinking about a pair of green Coclico sandals at Ped… thinking, thinking.
