Win it! Turquoise Chunk Necklace from United By Blue, helping keep our waterways clean
United by Blue recently asked me if I’d like to do a giveaway for something on their site, and I thought the holidays would be the perfect time share the love! For each item you purchase from United by Blue — organic tees, bags or jewelry — the organization removes one pound of trash from the world’s oceans and waterways. My pick from their collection was the Turquoise Chunk Necklace, which retails for $30. It’s bold size and color layers well with other necklaces, and its 14K gold-plated chain is 18″ long with a 2″ extender.
There are three ways to enter to win:
- Like United By Blue on Facebook and leave a comment on their wall with one thing you can do to help the ocean.
- Follow United By Blue on Twitter and tweet the same thing, mentioning @UnitedByBlue in your tweet.
- Leave a comment on this post telling me whether you’d keep this necklace for yourself or give it to someone as a gift, and why.
You can enter once each way between now and Sunday at 6 PST. Then we’ll randomly choose a winner, and I’ll ship it out via Priority Mail in time for Christmas! Open to U.S. residents only.
UPDATE: By random drawing, the winner is Liz! My lovely friend who founded Sseko Designs. I can’t wait to send it to her. THANK YOU to everyone who entered! United by Blue really appreciated all your comments.

Excellent post! I learned a lot just by visiting UBB’s site, especially about which seafood to choose!
If I won, I would probably keep this necklace because it would go well with my great-grandmother’s turquoise earrings that were given to me.

I would consider giving it away, but I’m quite sure that I’d just keep it for myself. :)

side note: i’m glad UBB is doing what they’re doing. probably helping my favorite sea creature, the narwhal. it’s the unicorn of the sea.

Honestly, I would keep it, My real name is Fayrouz, and it is arabic, its meaning is that turquoise stone in that necklace!
I’m always ALWAYS on the lookout for accessories that carry that stone, and that look beautiful and authentic rather than mass produced and generic. I really do love this, and would it would definitely hold a greater meaning wearing it :)

I would definitely keep it – so unique and a statement piece! I have been shopping all year for family and friends, so it would be a little Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to Me present :-)

I would completely keep it for myself, because 2010 has been a hard year and I could use something pretty, just for me.

eeeps! I used to have a necklace that looked pretty similar (though not nearly as pretty…) and it BROKE and I lost it. I wore it with everything– to the point where it kind of became a joke. Anyway, I’ve been looking for one ever since!!
So, I suppose my honest answer would be: keep it!! It is lovely. And I would be much more careful not to loose this one :)
